Car Burglary Suspect Arrested

Car Burglary Suspect Arrested 

  On October 23rd, 2025, at approximately 2:30 PM, a Homewood Police officer was patrolling the 100 block of Wildwood Parkway when he noticed a suspect and vehicle matching the description of a car burglary suspect who had recently broken into vehicles in that same area. The Homewood officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the suspect, who immediately began to flee down Lakeshore Parkway.

     Multiple Homewood Police vehicles pursed the suspect through Homewood and into southwest Birmingham to the 1500 block of Dennison Avenue SW. The suspect was driving recklessly in traffic and caused a traffic accident between his vehicle, two bystander vehicles, and two police vehicles. The suspect continued driving on Dennison Avenue SW while the Homewood officers stopped to check on the drivers of the other vehicles. The suspect vehicle struck a curb several blocks down on Jefferson Avenue SW, and the suspect abandoned his vehicle in the roadway. The suspect was apprehended after a short foot pursuit.

     Medics were called to the scene to check the drivers of the bystander vehicles for injuries. There were no injuries to any Homewood Police officers or the suspect. The suspect, Ronald Boware Woods Sr., age 39 of Birmingham, was arrested and charged with the following felony offenses:
 
 • Attempting to Elude - $30,000 bond
 • Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Firearm - $15,000 bond
 • Unlawful Breaking and Entering of a Vehicle - $15,000 bond
 • Theft of Property 2nd Degree - $10,000 bond
 • Receiving Stolen Property 2nd Degree - $10,000 bond
 • Illegal Possession of a Credit Card - $10,000 bond
 
     Woods was in possession of multiple stolen items including credit cards, a pistol stolen from Homewood, and a pistol stolen from Bessemer. Woods is suspected of committing thefts in Homewood, Bessemer, Hoover, and other cities in the Birmingham metro area. Woods has been transferred to the Jefferson County Jail on the above listed charged where he will be able to post bond.

Child Predator Arrested FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 31, 2026 March 31, 2026 at 3:09 PM Homewood Police Department News Release On March 27th, 2026, Homewood Police Department investigators conducted an operation in the Edgewood area to arrest a known child predator. Chase Andrew Womble, age 41 of Sharpsburg, Georgia, was arrested for Traveling to Meet a Child for an Unlawful Sex Act. He was transferred to Jefferson County Jail where he is being held on a $60,000 bond.

Crime Report for the Week of March 23, 2026 03/09/26 Burglary - Officers investigated a residential burglary by force in the 1000 block of Columbiana Road where electronics were reported stolen. 03/13/26 Narcotics Arrest - A vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation in the 100 block of Vulcan Road. The driver was in possession of methamphetamine and heroin and was arrested for Drug Trafficking. 03/14/26 DUI Arrest - A vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation in the 200 block of Lakeshore Pkwy and the driver was arrested for DUI.

Crime Report for the Week of March 2, 2026 March 2, 2026 at 1:18 PM 02/28/26 Disorderly Conduct Arrest - Officers responded to a disorderly subject in the 2900 block of 16th Place S. The subject was yelling and cursing in the street and was arrested for Disorderly Conduct.

Shooting Investigation at Brookwood Hospital FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 1, 2026 On March 1st, 2026, at approximately 9:25 PM, Homewood Police responded to Brookwood Hospital, located at 2010 Medical Center Drive, on a possible shots fired call. Officers arrived on scene and found a female subject and a male subject, both deceased from gunshot wounds. Preliminary investigation by Homewood Police detectives shows that the incident is an apparent murder-suicide. The area is still active as detectives and crime scene investigators continue to process the scene.
