FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: September 28th, 2026 Drug Trafficking Suspect Arrested On September 24th, 2026, members of the Homewood Police Tactical Team, Special Investigations Unit, and K9 Unit, executed a search warrant in the 2400 block of Francis Ave SW in Birmingham from a narcotics case which originated in Homewood. During the execution of the search warrant, Demetrius Dawyene Davis (age 47) of Birmingham was detained. Officers recovered the following narcotics and evidence at the scene: - 1.5 pounds of cocaine - 6 ounces of methamphetamine - 7.5 ounces of ecstasy/MDMA - 0.75 pounds of marijuana - 70 controlled prescription pills - Drug packaging materials - Two firearms - $3,900 in cash Davis was also found to be a convicted felon with a lengthy criminal history. He was subsequently arrested and charged with the following: • Drug Trafficking (Cocaine) $75,000 bond • Drug Trafficking (Methamphetamine) $75,000 bond • Drug Trafficking (Ecstasy/MDMA) $75,000 bond • Unlawful Possession of Marijuana (1st Degree) $10,000 bond • Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance $10,000 bond • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia $500 bond • Certain Person Forbidden to Possess a Firearm $10,000 bond Davis was transferred to Jefferson County Jail with a total $255,500 bond. Additional federal criminal charges related to the case are pending. Pursuant to U.S. constitutional standards, all persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
