UBEV - A vehicle was broken into with force in the 1300 block of Lakeshore Drive and a purse was stolen.

Stolen Vehicle Arrest - A vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation in the 1600 block of Valley Ave. The vehicle was confirmed stolen out of Texas and the driver was arrested for Receiving Stolen Property - 1st Degree.

Narcotics Arrest - Officers responded to a suspicious person call in the 2300 block of Huntington Ridge Rd. The subject was in possession of methamphetamine and was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance.

DUI Arrest - A vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation in the 400 block of Raleigh Ave. The driver was arrested for DUI.

Weapons Offense Arrest - A  vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation on Greensprings Hwy and Valley Ave. The driver was a felon in possession of a firearm and was arrested for Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Firearm.

Narcotics Arrest - A vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation in the 200 block of Lakeshore Pkwy. The driver was in possession of controlled pills and marijuana and was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.

Narcotics Arrest - Officers responded to a suspicious person call in the 50 block of Aspen Cove. The subject was in possession of methamphetamine and was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Narcotics Arrest - A vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation in the 200 block of Oxmoor Rd. The driver was in possession of controlled pills and was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 6, 2025 Homewood Police Department News Release Jefferson County District Attorney Decides Officer Involved Shooting was Justified The Homewood Police Department has been informed by the Jefferson County District Attorney Danny Carr that there will be no criminal charges filed against the Homewood police officer involved in the shooting of Jabari Peoples on June 23, 2025. After a review of the facts and circumstances, including the findings of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), Carr stated the following, “this shooting is deemed justified”. The Homewood Police Department has received requests and inquiries regarding the release of the body-worn camera footage to the public. As previously stated, pursuant to the Code of Alabama, Sections 36-21-210 and 212, the Homewood Police Department may not release the body-worn camera footage to the public. The video footage may only be disclosed to or viewed by the following parties, as defined in the below sections of the statute: Section 36-21-212 Disclosure of Recordings. (a) Recordings in the custody of a law enforcement agency shall be disclosed to an individual or personal representative only as provided by this article. This article does not apply to the exchange of recordings between law enforcement or prosecuting agencies. An individual requesting disclosure of a recording must make a written request to the head of the custodial law enforcement agency that states the date and approximate time of the activity captured in the recording or otherwise identifies the activity with reasonable particularity sufficient to identify the recording to which the request refers. (c) A custodial law enforcement agency may only disclose a recording to the following: (1) An individual whose image or voice is the subject of the recording. (2) A personal representative of an adult individual whose image or voice is the subject of the recording if the adult individual has consented to the disclosure. (6) A personal representative of a deceased individual whose image or voice is the subject of the recording. (d) When disclosing a recording, the custodial law enforcement agency shall disclose only those portions of the recording that are relevant to the individual’s request.

Crime Report for the Week of July 28, 2025 07/21/25 Vehicle Theft - A vehicle was left unlocked and running in the 100 block of Aspen Court and was stolen. 07/22/25 UBEV - An unlocked vehicle was entered in the 1600 block of Ashwood Ln and a pistol was stolen. 077/24/25 Narcotics Arrest - A vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation in the 300 block of West Valley Ave and the driver was arrested for Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. 07/24/25 Narcotics Arrest - A vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation in the 200 block of Greensprings Hwy. The driver was in possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine and was arrested for Distribution of a Controlled Substance. 07/26/25 Vehicle Theft - A vehicle was left unlocked and running in the 1900 block of 28th Ave South and it was stolen. 077/26/25 UBEV - An unlocked vehicle was entered in the 900 block if Oxmoor Rd and a wallet was stolen.

Homewood Police Department News Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: July 21, 2025 ABC Daycare Shooting Investigation On July 21st, at approximately 9:20 AM, Homewood Police Department officers responded to a report of gunshots near ABC Daycare, located at 610 Columbiana Road in Homewood. Officers responded to the scene and verified that there were no injuries. After conducting interviews, they found out the following information. A parent and her sister arrived at the daycare to drop a child off. They got into a verbal argument with an employee which then became physical. The fight was broken up by other employees, at which time the parent, her sister, and the child left the daycare in their vehicle, driving down Carr Avenue towards Greensprings Highway. Witnesses stated that the daycare employee then got into her own vehicle, followed the victims down Carr Avenue, and fired multiple shots at their vehicle with a handgun. There were no injuries to anyone in the victim’s vehicle. Detectives and crime scene investigators processed the scene and recovered a bullet from a tire on the victim’s vehicle. The daycare employee was arrested pending charges for Attempted Murder.
