Drug Trafficking Arrests

Drug Trafficking Suspects Arrested
On December 19th, 2025, members of the Homewood Police Tactical Team, Special Investigations Unit, K9 Unit, and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms executed a search warrant in the 1500 block of Warrior Road in Birmingham from a narcotics case which originated in Homewood. During the execution of the search warrant, Jessica Yvonne Moore (age 39) and Destiney Renee Jones (age 35), both from Birmingham, were detained.
Officers recovered 28 pounds of methamphetamine, $13,000 in cash, and four firearms, one of which was stolen. Both Moore and Jones were subsequently arrested and charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Moore was additionally charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance. They were transferred to Jefferson County Jail with the following bonds:

• Trafficking Methamphetamine $1,000,000 bond
• Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance $10,000 bond
• Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia $3,000 bond
Destiney Jones
• Trafficking Methamphetamine $500,000 bond
• Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia $500 bond
Additional federal criminal charges related to the case are pending.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 13, 2026 On May 10th, 2026, at approximately 10:45 AM, the Homewood Police Department began receiving calls regarding a suspicious person seen entering residents’ vehicles in the 100 block of St. Charles Street. Multiple Homewood Police officers quickly responded and began checking the area. Officers located the suspect in the 400 block of St. Charles Street and attempted to detain him, at which point the suspect fled on foot. Officers pursed the suspect through the neighborhood, until he was apprehended in the 900 block of Irving Road. After speaking to residents, officers were able to determine that the suspect had illegally entered two vehicles and stolen property from each one, all of which was returned to their owners. Lucas Durham Moore, age 23, of Vestavia Hills, AL was arrested and charged with the following offenses: • Unlawful Breaking and Entering of a Vehicle x 2 ($15,000 bond each) • Theft of Property – Third Degree ($10,000 bond) • Theft of Property – Fourth Degree ($3,000 bond) • Attempting to Elude a Police Officer ($6,000 bond) • Resisting Arrest ($3,000 bond) Moore was transferred to the Jefferson County Jail on the above listed charges. The Homewood Police Department would like to sincerely thank the Edgewood residents for their assistance in this investigation, including locating stolen property and providing doorbell camera footage to officers.

The subject was intoxicated and was arrested for Public Intoxication. 05/08/26 DUI Arrest - A vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation in the 700 block of Broadway and the driver was arrested for DUI. 05/10/26 UBEVs + Arrest - Officers responded to a car burglary in progress in the 200 block of St. Charles Street. Three unlocked vehicles were entered and personal items were stolen. The subject was located and was arrested for UBEV and Theft of Property. 05/10/26 DUI Arrest - A vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation in the 200 block of Greensprings Hwy and the driver was arrested for DUI.
Crime Report for the Week of May 5, 2026 04/30/26 UBEV - A vehicle was broken into in the 100 block of Aspen Cir and a purse was stolen. 05/01/26 Narcotics Arrest - A vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation in the 1200 block of Columbiana Road. The driver was in possession of marijuana and was arrested for Unlawful Possession of Marijuana First Degree

The driver was in possession of marijuana and was arrested for Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. 04/17/26 Narcotics Arrest - A vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation in the 100 block of Oxmoor Blvd. The driver was in possession of methamphetamine and was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance. 04/17/26 Attempting to Elude Arrest - Officers attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation in the 200 block of Greensprings Hwy. The vehicle fled and officers pursued it into Southside Birmingham where the driver was arrested. The driver was charged with Attempting to Elude and Resisting Arrest. 07/18/26 Narcotics Arrest - A vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation in the 100 block of Vulcan Rd. The driver was in possession of marijuana and was arrested for Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. 04/19/26 UBEV - An unlocked vehicle was entered in the 200 block of Lakeshore Pkwy and a pistol and cash were stolen. 04/19/26 Stolen Vehicle Arrest - A vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation in the 100 block of Greensprings Hwy. The vehicle was confirmed stolen and the driver was arrested for Receiving Stolen Property 1st Degree.

The driver was in possession of marijuana and was arrested for Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree. 04/09/26 Narcotics Arrest - A vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation in the 200 block of Oxmoor Road. The driver was in possession of controlled pills and was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance.
