Shooting Investigation
 
On February 10th, 2025, at approximately 1904 hours, Homewood Police Department dispatch received a 9-1-1 call regarding a traffic accident and possible shots fired on the I-65 northbound on-ramp from Oxmoor.
 
Officers responded to the scene and verified that there were no injuries. After interviewing the victim, they found out the following information. Two vehicles were involved in a minor traffic accident on Greensprings Highway southbound near West Valley Ave. One vehicle (Suspect Vehicle) put on its hazard lights as if to pull off the roadway to exchange information. The other vehicle (Victim Vehicle) followed the suspect vehicle down Greensprings Highway onto Oxmoor Road to I-65, when a passenger in the suspect vehicle leaned out the window and began shooting at the victim vehicle.  The victim vehicle immediately pulled over and the suspect vehicle left on I-65 northbound. There are no suspects in custody.
 
The victim vehicle was struck multiple times, but the driver/sole occupant was not injured in the incident. Detectives and crime scene investigators responded to investigate the incident and process the scene. The Homewood Police Department is asking for assistance from the public to help identify the suspect(s). If anyone witnessed the incident or has any information relevant to the investigation, we ask that they contact Detective Hyatt at 205-332-6200.

The driver was in possession of marijuana and was arrested for Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. 1/20/26 Public Intox Arrest - An intoxicated subject was walking in the roadway in the 400 block of West Valley Ave and was arrested for Public Intoxication. 1/23/26 DUI Arrest - A vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation in the 100 block of State Farm Pkwy and the driver was arrested for DUI. 1/25/26 DUI Arrest - Officers responded to a wreck on Lakeshore Pkwy near I-65. One of the drivers was intoxicated and was arrested for DUI. 1/26/26 DUI Arrest - Officers responded to a wreck on Lakeshore Dr and Greensprings Hwy. One of the drivers was intoxicated and was arrested for DUI.

Crime Report for the Week of January 19, 2026 1/16/26 Narcotics Arrest - A vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation in the 100 block of Greensprings Hwy. The driver was in possession of methamphetamine and crack cocaine and was arrested for Drug Trafficking. 1/17/26 Public Intox Arrest - Officers responded to the 2800 block of Crescent Ave on an intoxicated subject. The subject was located and was arrested for Public Intoxication.

The subject was in possession of methamphetamine and was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance. 1/6/26 UBEV - An unlocked vehicle was entered in the 300 block of Berkeley Place and a pistol was stolen. 1/6/26 UBEV - An unlocked vehicle was entered in the 1100 block of Crest Ave and a Macbook was stolen. 1/11/26 Narcotics Arrest - A vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation in 300 block of Valley Ave and the driver was arrested for Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.

Crime Report for the Week of January 6, 2026 January 12, 2026 at 8:57 AM 12/30/25 Vehicle Theft - An unlocked vehicle with the keys inside it was stolen from the 900 block of Valley Ridge Drive. 12/31/25 Narcotics Arrest - A vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation in the 200 block of Lakeshore Pkwy and the driver was arrested for Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. 1/1/26 Narcotics Arrest - Officers investigated a suspicious person in the 800 block of Greenspings Hwy. The subject was in possession of methamphetamine and was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance. 1/3/26 Narcotics Arrest - A vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation in the 100 block of Greensprinsg Hwy. The driver was in possession of fentanyl and was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance. 1/4/26 UBEV - An unlocked vehicle was entered in the 1600 block of 29th Court South and a pistol was stolen. 1/4/26 UBEV - An unlocked vehicle was entered in the 300 block of Berkeley Place and three firearms were stolen.

December 30, 2025 at 1:15 PM Homewood Police Department News Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: December 30th, 2025 Walmart Arson Investigation On December 30th at approximately 10:05 AM, Homewood Police and Fire Departments responded to Walmart, located at 209 Lakeshore Parkway in Homewood, on a fire call. A fire in the home goods section of the store was extinguished by Homewood Fire Department personnel. The store was safely evacuated and there were no injuries, however there was extensive damage inside the store. During the investigation, it became apparent that the fire was intentionally set by several suspects, which left the scene before police arrival. Homewood Police Department detectives and crime scene investigators are processing the scene and investigating the incident as arson.
